(Dancing Lady) Comet Swift-Tuttle   two and a half times the size of the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs Comet Swift-Tuttle is a giant. core mass 26 km in diameter, or two-and-a-half times the size of the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs, Comet Swift–Tuttle (formally designated 109P/Swift–Tuttle) is a periodic comet with a current (osculating) orbital period of 133 years. It was independently discovered. other comets are much smaller, with nuclei only a few kilometers across. As a result of its size, Comet Swift-Tuttle produces a large number of meteoroids, many of which are hefty enough to produce fireballs.
